THE DELIA ORSINI MONOVARIETAL OLIVE OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM AN ANCIENT AUTOCHTHONOUS OLIVE VARIETY

The Delia Orsini Extra Virgin olive oil is a refined monovarietal olive oil, obtained exclusively from “dritta” cultivar olives, the main and most common olive tree variety in Abruzzo.

Especially, this kind of plantation predominates in the following districts: Loreto Aprutino, Penne, Pianella, Moscufo Collecorvino and Città Sant’Angelo, all part of Pescara province.

Our monovarietal olive oil is a typical local product, able to express the peculiarities of this land: it is obtained from the olives harvested in an ancient olive grove on the gentle slopes of Loreto Aprutino hills, halfway from Gran Sasso and Majella mountains (in the Central Apennines) and the Adriatic seacoast.

OUR MONOVARIETAL EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL ORGANOLEPTIC PROPERTIES

The Delia Orsini monovarietal olive oil has excellent organoleptic properties since it is characterized by very low acidity levels, a limited number of peroxides and several poliphenols, as demonstrated by an Italian primary certified lab analysis, conducted on the 2021-2022 olive harvest:

  • acidity or free fatty acids: 0.18 g of oleic acid/100 g of olive oil
  • number of peroxides: 8.8 meq of oxygen/kg of olive oil
  • total poliphenols: 526 mg/kg of gallic acid

Furthermore, the certificate contains information about our olive oil acidic composition as well: the amount of fatty acids help verifying the actual quality and genuineness of our Extra Virgin olive oil.

SENSORIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR EXTRAVIRGIN OLIVE OIL

In order to identify the sensorial characteristics of an olive oil and to classify it as an Extra Virgin one, a panel of professional tasters, guided by a panel chief, needs to take part in a tasting session and verify the complete absence of any flaws.

The final judgement is based on an average of the single assessments made by all the members of the group.

Some samples of our 2021/2022 olive oil production have been sent to a primary lab analysis, to verify its admissibility to the annual “Rassegna Nazionale degli Oli Monovarietali” (Monovarietal Olive Oils National Exposition). The chief panel Barbara Alfei has judged our product as follows:

“Fruttato medio, decisamente erbaceo, con sentori di mandorla e carciofo. Note di amaro e piccante di media intensità; retrogusto erbaceo, di mandorla e carciofo.“.
