Why did we decide to certify our Extra Virgin organic olive oil?
The choice of certifying our organic Extra Virgin olive oil was the last step of a long and complex process: we have always kept the fertility of our olive grove without using any chemicals, employed only natural products for the care of our olive plants, and relied on an oil mill with organic certification for the production of our organic olive oil.
The two main reasons that brought us to take this decision and face happily any related upcoming difficulties were:
- our willingness to ensure our clients a 100% natural Extra Virgin olive oil without any chemical traces;
- our desire to protect the entire ecosystem from any forms of pollution.
LAND PLANTATION AND OLIVE GROVE CARE IN ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
Organic agriculture-friendly land plantation and olive grove care means never employing any chemical fertilizers and pesticides that do not have natural origins. Indeed, especially if used in big quantities, these products pollute terrains and aquifers and kill organisms that are essential for plants pollination and for fighting noxious parasites attacking olive plants’ health. Moreover, by the time passing, parasites become more and more resistant to synthetic antiparasitics, forcing you to employ stronger and stronger chemicals to obtain the desired result. As a consequence of this dynamics, a vicious cycle originates and only organic agriculture or biodynamic agriculture can break it.
At our Organic Farm, since 2000 we employ only those products that are approved in organic agriculture both for land manuring and olive groves phytosanitary treatments. The treatments frequency varies according to the specific needs registered year by year directly on the field by Delia Orsini.
ORGANIC OLIVES OIL MILL PROCESSING
Besides verifying the technological level of the machinery employed for the olives processing, which are decisive for the production of high quality Extra Virgin olive oil, to choose the right oil-mill it is important to make sure it has an organic certification.
Owning the organic certification guarantees that, before starting the olives processing cycle, all the machineries are carefully washed and that the organic olives do never get in contact with other non-organic ones for the entire milling process.
At the end, thanks to all these attentions, we can be sure that our Extra Virgin olive oil is high quality and 100% organic.
THE OLIVE OIL CERTIFICATION BY “SUOLO & SALUTE” ORGANIC QUALITY CONTROL BODY
Our organic certification and its documentary evidence, obtained again in October 2021 by the “Suolo & Salute” control body has a three years validity and guarantees the full compliance of our olive grove and Extra Virgin olive oil to the organic agriculture regulation.
